About

Vintage clothing with history, soul, and a second life.

Grandma Did It Better is a curated vintage clothing store in SoHo, New York City, built on one simple belief: the best pieces are the ones with a past.

Sourcing

Every piece begins with a story.

We source remarkable vintage garments from grandmothers who have lived full lives and collected beautiful pieces along the way. Each item carries with it where it came from, how it was worn, why it mattered, and the memories it holds.

Our collection spans every era. Dresses, tops, blazers, vintage fur coats, designer pieces, rare handbags, statement accessories, and one-of-a-kind finds from the 1920s through the 1990s.

A better vintage experience. Personal, trustworthy, beautifully restored, and ready to wear today.

Preservation

We preserve more than clothing.

Vintage, for us, isn't just about finding a beautiful coat or dress. It is about preserving the life behind the piece.

When possible, our garments are accompanied by personal details: photographs, letters, postcards, buttons, notes, or small artifacts that help tell the story of where the item came from. These details turn each piece into something more meaningful than a product. They make it part of a larger history.

We believe clothing can carry memory. A great vintage piece has already lived one life. Our job is to help it begin the next one.

Founders

Who founded Grandma Did It Better.

Grandma Did It Better was founded by Ksenia Moiseeva and Elijah Karaulov in 2025, out of a belief that vintage fashion deserves better storytelling and care. The goal isn't just to preserve the clothing, but the lives, memories, and personal histories behind each piece.

Process

How a piece reaches you.

  1. Source

We buy full wardrobes, not loose pieces, from grandmothers and private collectors, along with the photographs and stories that came with them.

  2. Edit

Only about 40% of what we buy makes it to the shop floor. Everything else is passed on, donated, or recycled.

  3. Restore

Professional cleaning, lining repairs, button reinforcement, minor tailoring. Whatever the piece needs to be wearable, with no shortcuts.

  4. Curate

Each piece is allocated to an era, a collection, and one of our three New York stores. Then it's hung, photographed, and ready for its next life.
