# Grandma Did It Better > Vintage fashion, sourced from grandmothers and private collectors, restored by hand, and sold with the stories that came with it. ## What we are We are Grandma Did It Better, a vintage clothing house founded in 2025 by Ksenia Moiseeva and Elijah Karaulov. We buy full wardrobes from grandmothers and private collectors, closets at a time, along with the photographs, notes, and keepsakes that came with them. About 40% of what we buy makes it into the shop. The rest doesn't meet our standard for construction, condition, or character. We operate three stores in New York: SoHo, East Hampton, and Southampton. Everything we sell is one of a kind. We do not make reproductions and we do not stock vintage-inspired new-make. Ever. ## How we work - **Sourcing.** We work directly with grandmothers and private collectors who have gathered garments over a lifetime. Most purchases are full wardrobes, not single pieces. Whenever possible, we collect the personal history alongside the clothing: photographs, original notes, small keepsakes. - **Restoration.** Every piece is professionally cleaned, then assessed for lining repairs, button reinforcement, minor tailoring, and any other work it needs to be wearable. We do not shortcut this step. - **Curation.** About 60% of what we buy does not make it past restoration. What remains is photographed garment-by-garment, measured flat, graded for condition, and listed with the story we have for it. - **Authentication.** Every piece is personally inspected by Ksenia and Elijah before it enters the shop. Labels, construction, hardware, and provenance are examined.
